State of 8 and The Production group Recently teamed up with Tapestry International to produce a childrens science based series for the Discovery Channel. The show, produced by Karen Carlson for Tapestry International, is intended to continue Bill Nye's stock in trade, the child-friendly science lesson with a lot of humor thrown in to keep the little ones interested.
Full Mental Jacket's Ronen Lasry was the lead designer for the virtual set. The set, inspired by the look of genre sci-fi pulp magazines of the 40s and 50s, was built in a little over a week to meet Tapestry's very tight production schedule. Chris Mapes implemented the intricately designed space for the Production Group. According to Mapes "This was a simple installation with a simple purpose. There was nothing extra fancy, just a single camera on a tracking head and a virtual studio system."
