State of 8 came on board early with Weller-Grossman to ingrate a Virtual environment into their new reality wrap up show, Reality Binge. On the fox reality channel, host Eric Toms takes you through the latest events in the reality television world on a full Mental Jacket Virtual set. Operated by State of 8’s George Brown, the VizRT Ibis system at the Production Group studios tracks the cameras position against the 2D back plate in real time.

State of 8 played an integral role in the conversion of Global National news’ conversion to virtual studio.

The remote studio model Global implemented allows anchor Kevin Newman to deliver Canada’s most trusted news in a studio in Ottowa, whilst the remainder of the production team, including producers and crew, maintain business as “usual” from Vancouver.

Utilizing many technologies most of the facility is operated via broadband networking. this allows things like the teleprompter, camera controls and video feeds to be transmitted bi-directionally between the facilities.

One of the more amazing pieces of machinery involved in the production is a Telemetrics H-frame robotic camera. Having seen this item installed, State of 8’s Chris Mapes thought it to be the perfect solution to provide the production quality so often missing from a robotic installation.

State of 8 and The Production group Recently teamed up with Tapestry International to produce a childrens science based series for the Discovery Channel. The show, produced by Karen Carlson for Tapestry International, is intended to continue Bill Nye’s stock in trade, the child-friendly science lesson with a lot of humor thrown in to keep the little ones interested.

Vwise was looking for a sophisticated new look and its producers, Twenty-two productions, came to State of 8 to help them with their online content needs. State of 8 provided High Definition compositing equipment and consulting to the process. State of 8 stayed involved throughout the process and worked to make sure the product was the best possible.

State of 8′ Chris Mapes was on hand for the High Definition installation of virtual studio at the Center for Disease control in Atlanta.The CDC has chosen to install the HDVG high definition multi-camera virtual studio application from Orad. This system will be utilized to create unique environment interaction as well as complex graphical data representation.

State of 8 was on hand to help integrate the Orad HD virtual studio system. CDC has chosen to implement the solution in a scalable fashion allowing them to start with one live camera and eventually expand the system to include 3 real time motion-tracking cameras. This will allow them to train and learn on the system while growing the system at a comfortable pace.

State of 8 was called in to help Larry King record for his Larry King Live- Greatest Interviews” DVD. Shot at the Production Group studios, Larry interviewed several of his favorites and reminisced about times past. Larry worked easily on the virtual set. The set was composited live so producers could instantly make comments and changes.

In a star-studded ceremony at Lincoln Center, Tapestry International Productions was awarded an Emmy in the Outstanding Children’s Series category for “Greatest Inventions with Bill Nye.”

“Bill Nye is incredible. It is an honor to work with him,” says Executive Producer Nancy Walzog, “the Emmy is icing on the cake.”

The series was shot in Hollywood California and posted in Tapestry’s New Jersey facility. “Using state-of-the art green screen technology, we send Bill Nye to the moon, inside the human body and back in time,” relays Supervising Producer Karen Carlson. “We also showcase kid inventors to see what the future holds.”

“The show is big fun. We see how human ideas became concrete… and other molecules, as well,” adds Nye, sporting his signature lab coat and bow tie.

This is Tapestry’s third nomination for Outstanding Children’s Series and second win. In 2004, Tapestry snagged the top prize for Discovery Channel’s daily kid series, “Assignment Discovery.”

Water Channel went on air and State of 8 was there to help them launch an all new on-air look. This is a whole new way to think about home shopping, allowing for database managed on-air graphics as well as a real time multi-camera virtual studio environments. All derived from the same graphics machine. Check out State of 8 and Water Channel on Dish network channel 216.

State of 8 teamed up to help Wainscott studios to deliver their “Big Big World” to PBS. A custom pipeline was created that allowed them to produce real time composites as well as compose for High Definition. The puppets are composited into real time 3D environments for performance and composition. All of the camera data is captured and married to scenes so that the scene can be rebuilt if needed.

Full Mental Jacket along with production partner State of 8, provided production services and engineering for ‘Greatest Americans’. State of 8’s complete portable virtual studio system was shipped to NBC studios New York, which was preloaded with the set. State of 8’s real-time systems engineer Chris Mapes, installed and operated the system at NBC.
